Het Opstalvalleigebied situeert zich in de Berendrechtse Polder en bevindt zich deels op grondgebied van de stad Antwerpen (district Berendrecht-Zandvliet-Lillo) en deels op grondgebied van de gemeente Stabroek. Het gebied bestaat voornamelijk uit gras- en akkerland. Een aantal waterlopen doorkruisen het gebied. Het project omvat het inrichten van een natuurcompensatiegebied van ca. 67 ha. Deze werken bestaan hoofdzakelijk uit reliëfwijzigingen (grondverzet met afvoer), met het oog op het inrichten van natuur voor waterplasvorming en rietontwikkeling. De nodige aanplantwerken van riet en bomen, het kappen van bomen, het opzetten van een dijklichaam, het plaatsen van stuwen en het aanleggen van een dienstweg behoren eveneens tot de opdracht. Voor de uitvoering van de grondwerken zal de uitvoerende aannemer over de juiste erkenning dienen te beschikken daar het volume aan grondverzet minimaal ca. 170.000 m³ bedraagt.
